It was a warm, sunny day, Marais called up her boyfriend, Starshine "H-Hey Shiny... Uh... So... I have to go home to Lumiere for the break... Wanna come?...."

"O-Okay... I'll see you there..." she said with a smile before hanging up...

(Time skip, just outside the city)

Marais was speaking to the leader of the caravan, he was a short old man, rather round with a thick moustache "So you're sure that your way is the quickest way to Lumeire on foot?" "Yes ma'am, our way is proven to be the best way on that route to and from Lumiere." "Okay, good..."

"If all goes as planned, about 6 to 8 days." as the man said that, Marais was already in the back of a free wagon "Quicker than average, cool, c'mon Shiny, get on." she said with a smile as she took a portable console out of her bag...

Starshine gave a small nod of respect to the man as he took a seat next to Marais and took out a portable console as well "So I had some spar money lying around from the allowance that my family sends me and I decided to buy this and a couple of games you've talked about. figured if you liked it so much it was probably worth checking out"

Marais smiled "It's mostly a matter of opinion as to which games are good, but it's nice to see you trying it!" she said happily...

"Yeah, fair enough... So, have you tried..." they continued to speak about gaming for the rest of the day

(Time skip to just near The Lume Marsh)

It was early morning as the caravan neared the marsh, it was dark in the swamp and the Grimm were very agitated, but they pulled through just fine that night, they came into a clearing that stretched on for miles, this was the Lume Marsh "We're almost there..." Marais said as she looked around outside her wagon and saw the familiar floating lanterns decorating the water "If we're lucky, you'll get to see the Naga Fireballs..." she said to Starshine with a hopeful smile...

Starhhine looked around in slight awe "Man this place is awesome.... actually all the lanterns remind me of my home a little bit, see certain areas of the forests are filled with lanterns and in winter it causes the entire forest to glimmer even at night"

Marais smirked "If you think this is pretty, you should see the city itself" she said happily as the caravan continued on until it suddenly stopped "Welp, looks like it's as far as we can go by caravan, we're gonna need to wait for a ferry to go any further.... The water here can get pretty deep, it's too murky to tell by sight... It can be pretty dangerous to go without a ferry..."

Marais shrugged "There's not really stations, they just kinda roam around the edge of the marsh looking for travelers and caravans..." at the moment she stopped speaking, someone in the caravan fired a flare into the sky "Okay everyone! Just be patient, a ferry will be here in a few minutes!" the leader of the caravan yelled...

Marais shrugged "It hasn't failed us before..."

Many minutes had passed since the flare gun was fired, but after the short wait, a loud foghorn was heard "That's our ride..." Marais said as a large ferry approached the caravan before stopping in front of the caravan, Anyone orda' a trip ac'oss the marsh?" a young hornet Faunus man with a thick Cajun accent said as he came down the stairs to the wheelhouse of the boat, he was blonde with hornet antenna, he seemed to be a teenager and was wearing a fancy black suit with matching sunglasses "Pierre De Lumiere, pleased to make yer aquai'inces" Marais heard the man say his name and looked past the rest of the wagon train "Bro?..." she said quietly to herself as the wagons started to board the ferry...

Marais shrugged "I kinda accidentally trained the accent outta me, I can do it on command, but it's not, like, my natural state anymore..." at that moment, the wagon they were on was within earshot of her brother "Ho'd up, ho'd up, was that mah sista I just heard?" Marais sighed happily "Hey, Pierre, how's it going?" she said before their caravan passed Pierre "Marais! Oh mayn, have I missed ya! Is dis guy the new beau ya've been tellin' us all abou' in ya letters?" "This is him, yeah. Starshine, this is my brother Pierre, Pierre, this is my boyfriend Starshine." "I like ya name, it's all mysterious, but also all cute-like, but also sounds like a guy who could kick my ass on a whim, besta' all three, amirite?"

A'right" he said before running back up the stairs to the boat's wheelhouse "Aw, I missed the little guy so much, he's grown so much already, I can tell." Marais said happily...

(Timeskip)

"Awright e'r'ybody, we're almost there!" Pierre said as they neared a large town suspended above the marshwater by wooden stilts "You ready to meet the rest of my family?"
